Anyone who's pushed a caliper piston back with a C-clamp and an old brake pad knows the routine. One hand holds the pad. One hand turns the screw. The whole thing slips sideways halfway through, you reset it, and you do it again on the next corner.

The problem isn't skill — it's alignment. A C-clamp pushes from one point, off the centre of the piston. The piston tips in its bore, binds against the wall, and its edge drags across the dust boot.
